Q: What magnet programs does Rockway Middle offer? 
A: Rockway offers an Engineering/Robotics & Legal Studies magnet program. 

Q: Where can I go to apply my child for magnet programs after the deadline? 
A: Parents can apply online again by visiting offcycle.miamimagnet.com starting TBA 

Q: What are the eligibility criteria for the program(s)? 
A: All students must have a minimum of a 2.0 average in core academics (language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies) and a minimum of a 2.0 average in conduct. Only “1s” and “2s” in effort. No more than 10 unexcused absences for the previous year and 5 unexcused absences for the first semester of the current year. 

Q: Are additional documents required for the application? 
A: No additional documents are needed for public and charter school students other than the online application. Students coming from private schools are required to submit transcripts. Letters of recommendation are not needed. 

Q: How are students selected to enter the program? 
A: The magnet selection process is a random selection/lottery process. All students that meet the eligibility criteria enter the random selection/lottery process. 

Q: What happens if my child is waitlisted? 
A: Students will remain on the random selection list for the schools to which they are currently wait listed. Parents must accept by the deadline date within 2 weeks after March 15th or the seat will be forfeited and go to the next student on the waiting list. Students will be selected from the random selection waitlist as seats become available.

Q: When I accept my seat what is the next step? 
A: Parents need to sign 3 forms the: Declaration of Acceptance, Enrollment Agreement, and the Subject Selection. It is available in your email or here on campus. Return via email to Ms. K. Fernandez or to Office  

Q: Anything I need to do after I sign all the forms? 
A: No. Registration will be completed on our end after that. We encourage you keep visiting our website (www.rockwaymiddleschool.org) and social media (Instagram @rmsfalcons) for updates. We will schedule a new Student Magnet Orientation before the school year begins in August. 

Q: Does Rockway offer transportation for magnet programs? 
A: No, unfortunately, we do not provide transportation for students in our magnet program. It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to make the necessary arrangements.
